specializing in fastener distribution in 1965. For over thirty years our goal has
been to maintain a sophisticated - yet flexible system to provide a full range of

COMPUTERIZATION - Our company has
invested heavily in advanced hi-tech software and hardware to insure the utilization of
new technology in distribution. We have integrated ORDER ENTRY, INVENTORY, CONTRACT
ITEMS, PURCHASING, INVOICING, and daily business functions in our system. Annual
software updates improve our system on a regular basis.
BAR CODING - Recent years have seen
great strides in the use of bar codes within industrial distribution. We use
INTERMEC Trakkers for scanning bar codes that relate to internal control as well as bar
codes on customer bins for remote site order entry. All labels are created in-house
and can be customized to many applications. Whenever a need exists to minimize key
strokes there may be a solution with bar codes.
E.D.I. - Smith Fastener Co. is
receiving many purchase orders from customers using Electronic Date Interchange.
Customers have realized savings in dollars and time in using third party networks to
transmit documents.
PRODUCT QUALITY - All items of a
high carbon/heat treated steel are traced. Customer packing slips have trace numbers
to reference critical items to mill certifications in our files. All mill
certifications are available to customers on a NO CHARGE basis. Even low carbon
steel items are traced for identification and country of origin - however mill
certifications are not available on low carbon items.
